Gong Hei Fat Choi !

That is how you say Happy Chinese New Year in Cantonese which is the language spoken in the part of China our daughter is from.

On Saturday, our family joined about 5,000 other people in our area to celebrate Chinese New Year 2012...The Year of the dragon!!!

We watched as many Chinese children performed dances and music. The Dragon dance was especially spectacular!!

We went to the activity tables where Lottie and Corrie colored a Dragon and the Chinese animals...

Here is Lottie meticulously cutting out her dragon...

The boys got involved in a serious chess match...

As well as trying their hand at Chinese Yo-Yo....

Noah even learned to pop it up and catch it!!....

Lottie and Noah practiced the proper chopstick technique...

The girls used their own money to have their faces painted for the special occasion....

We also met up with 2 other families that we "do life " with. Between our 3 families,  we have 14 children. Here are the youngest 8 of those 14 in their Chinese attire...

We are blessed beyond words to have these 2 families right here in our own neighborhood to share life day in and day out together. From walking to school and carpooloing to gymnastics, playdates at the park and the pool...yes...life is good!!!

And on the way out of the festival, we captured a moment with both Mama and Baba with our beautiful daughter...

Gong Hei fat Choi to all our loved ones, far and near!!
