A Day of Rest

**Text finally came though! This was Sunday, June 20 ~ Father's Day**

Today was Sunday and we observed the day of rest and did just that. Sifan slept till 7 am this
morning after going down about 9 last night.
I heard her cough for about 10 minutes in the middle of the night but it did not wake her and she slept on through. We were thrilled! She woke this morning and peeked over the crib to find us just waiting for her to wake up. She came and snuggled with us for a few minutes as she was waking up good. Soon I decided we would get her dressed and I would attempt my first hair do. Her hair had gotten a little matted during the night so I combed it out and tried my hand at some flat twists.
She was fairly patient with this novice hair dresser.
We at least had some sort of style and I decided it was not bad for my first time. The headband helps to distract the eye from my unskilled braid job.

She enjoyed eating some oatmeal in the room and then we went down for breakfast where she
enjoyed another plate full of eggs and injera.
We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio and just relaxing as we focused on getting to know our daughter.
Once she warms up to you , she is quite playful and has quite a sense of humor!

After playing for awhile we decided to walk to a nearby market, so we strapped her in the Ergo
carrier and I carried her as we walked.
The rhythm of the walking put her right to sleep , so she had a nice morning nap sleeping on my chest as we walked.

We returned from the market and had lunch here at the guest house. They made her some
mashed potatoes with carrots mixed in and she also helped us polish off the vegetable
soup. After playing a bit more, I took her upstairs and laid her in the crib for an afternoon
nap. She talked to herself for a minute and then went to sleep for well over 2 hours. When
she woke up she played on the bed with me for awhile and then had a cheerio snack.
We cleaned up the room a bit and decided to take another walk outside before dinner. When
we returned We had a spaghetti supper where Sifan polished off a whole bowl by herself! She
has quite the appetite! She also ate half a jar of peaches.
She played with Tsebays’s nephew after dinner who is probably around 7 years old. He was
helping her to walk. She is already stronger than she was upon our first visit with her last week.
Her personality is emerging. She enjoys teasing and laughing. She has moments where she
does not want to be put down and will fuss if you do so, but then she has others where she is
happily playing and I can walk out of the room. She is going happily to Battle more and more
and he supervised the spaghetti supper!

After dinner we presented Tsebay with a gift we had brought for her.
Another YWAM family who had traveled a couple months ago said she would like an English bible . We purchased the bible before coming and presented it to her tonight as a gift from both families.
She was overjoyed with the new bible and so very thankful.

Soon it was time for another bath .
We did not wash the hair again but bathed her and put footed pajamas on tonight. She took about half a bottle and then was ready for bed. I laid her in the crib and sang a couple songs and she was soon sleeping soundly.

We have so enjoyed our day of rest and getting to know our daughter. She is a true delight! We
can’t wait to introduce her to all her new family and friends.

We know she will melt your heart as she has ours already!
Blessings to All from Ethiopia!
